As I promised before, I will write the stories for Diner Disaster and…Forest Fiasco(I think). I am actually wrking on Diner Disaster right now. Since DD is the more interesting one out of the two stories – and has more of a developed story at the moment – DD will be finished before Forest Fiasco. I have also taken up the goal to write a daily short story. The story will be based on the “Word of the Day” on Merriam-Webster Dictionary website. I’m doing this so I can improve of my writing skills. I won’t post the story I write each day though. I want the minimum number of pages for each day to be two pages too. I don’t know how this will go though. I start on that goal yet though because I’m writing Diner Disaster.
I did take a look at the “Word of the Day”…for today(6/19/13). The “Word of the Day” is
First off I would like to apologize about not updating my blog in the past few weeks. I have been busy trying to organize some things and just other crazy stuff. I think I being a bit paranoid over this summer homework I was assigned though. I have some papers to write, reading assignments to complete, a math worksheet and other miscellaneous stuff to tend to before summer break is over. Because of all this I feel as if I’m already in the month of August!
Or late July – Your choice.
Since I have a lot of free time ( aside from my recently acquired part-time job at Subway), I’ve decided to try and practice my drawing skills some I can improve and explore new mediums. For my birthday, my mom said that she would get me a canvas (I’ve never painted on a canvas before). I haven’t gotten it yet but I will soon!
I have been making sketches lately but nothing much. I’ll upload them later. Right now I’m just coloring random things (not really random if you think about it). I dug up this picture from last school year that a friend of mine drew. She didn’t want it anymore so I took it. I’ve decide to color so the half-colored picture is sitting next to me right now as I am typing up this sentence. I love how I colored the eyes.
One medium that I want to improve in a lot over my summer break is watercolor. Watercolor is very beautiful; I can’t get enough of it! I checked out a book form the library with some information about watercolor and different techniques, etc & etc. The book is only a guide though. The rest of the exploring is up to my imagination and I. The book is by Elizabeth Horowitz.
On the other hand, I’ve taken a break from GIMP. After school ended I kind of grew bored of it. Not because I am really bored of it but because I was tired of the digital art assignments I had to complete over the school year. I have started taken an interest in GIMP again but for now GIMP and I are in a platonic relationship. The love isn’t what it used to be a couple of weeks ago. I’m pretty sure some of you out there can relate to that.
Since I’m taking a break from GIMP, I’ve decided to try and catch a different fish in the sea of free (and single) computer programs. I searched and then I came across an old friend – Krita. I;m going to download it at least in the next couple of days. You know – test it out a bit, have little “practice” lessons, etc
I’m having way to much fun typing this.
Anyways, Krita just keeps calling me in my mind ever since I discovered it last year. So I WILL download it soon.
This one is not my favorite. Probably because I did not finish all of it before school ended. So I had to improvise and make something out of my incomplete project. My final project manifesto is actually supposed to be composed of five pieces but I only have the sketches for those. I could have finished this piece if it were not for the surprise birthday party that I had on Saturday (May 18). Oh well! At least I turned in something decent. I drew and colored this piece all on my computer. I sketched her on Microsoft paint(Windows 7 version). Then I transferred the sketch to GIMPS and re-outlined and colored the rest there.
Here are all the sketches that I made:
Here is Wonderful Couching without the outlines!
I’m not finished yet but I will be!
Sorry, I really wanted to have everything finished when I was going to upload all of my graphic novel assignment in one post. I enjoyed this assignment (not including the splash page); it was really fun! MY original concept for the story of this graphic novel did deviate away from the original story, but I tend to do that a lot so that problem did not affect my graphic novel a great deal. My favorite part (s0 of this assignment had to be when I was working on the Promotional Poster and the Graphic Novel Page. I like these to pages the most because I got to use WATERCOLOR for both pieces.
I had fun working with the watercolor. My second favorite would have to be when I was working on the Cover Page. The cover page came in second because when I was working on coloring the page, it took a REALLY long time to complete. Not as long as when I was working on the poster and the page but I was just having a difficult time coloring the page all-in-all. I had fun doing it still though.
Lastly, I do NOT like the Splash page.
First and foremost, I had a difficult time trying to think of what I should draw for the Splash Page. When I had my original concept for the Graphic Novel page I knew exactly what I wanted to draw but as I deviated away from that concept it became or difficult to decide what I should draw for the Splash page. There were some other factors that made me hate the splash page even more but there is just to much to list.
Without further ado-
Here is my Graphic Novel Package!
(Looks around and does not see a splash page.)
Want to know WHY?
Because the Splash Page is THAT BAD! I’m really disappointed in the page to be honest so I will not be posting the page. I will keep it for my own personal improvement.
Also, I would like to apologize for some late posting. I had finals and an AP test to take care of and became terrible busy but that happens sometimes. The only bad thing is that this blog was a part of my art class assignments and I had two post two blogs every weekend (actually every Friday but I always forget to post of Friday…).
Now, while some of my classmates will probably abandon their blogs. I WILL NOT!!!
I love my blog to much.
I will probably reorganize my blog sometime during the summer since I am out of school now (FINALLY!).
I MIGHT change the theme, though. I like my current blog theme but I am growing bored of it. When I do change my theme, tell me if you like it or not. C:
In other news, do any of you all have any other suggestions for improving my artwork or my blog?
If you do PLEASE COMMENT! Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Forget Sumo Paint (we broke up last month), Gimps is my new Boo!
Anyways, I downloaded the free program, Gimps, on my new computer a while ago and haven’t been able to fully work on it until recently. I love it too! It’s kind of interesting-how much you can do with it that is. I still can’t fully grasp everything about it so I can’t explain everything about Gimps in as much detail as I want. Besides, I’m still playing with it myself. All I know is that I have a pack of pencil brushes that I downloaded for Gimps that I want to use for my final project.
Now while I have Gimps, I still want to try Krita. I mentioned Krita in one of my older blog post and was not able to successfully use the drawing program due to my older computer being incapable of opening it.
But now I have a NEW computer. So I’m going to download it again to see if I can use it now. Especially since those awesome drawings I see in videos on Youtube being drawn using Krita. Maybe Krita will be my second baby. Maybe I will only have one baby.
ONLY TIME WILL TELL!
(Or not. C:)
For my final project, I plan on using Gimps and traditional tools to produce five pictures.
